JOHANNA REISS
Johanna Reiss, born in the Netherlands, lives and writes in Manhattan. Her latest book, A Hidden Life (Melville House, 2009) is a memoir for adults.
JOHANNA AT A VERY YOUNG AGE
Her first and second book, The Upstairs Room and The Journey Back, both YA books, are, respectively, about her life in hiding as a Jewish child during WWII, and the first year after the Holocaust.
THE FAMILY OF FARMERS WHO SAVED JOHANNA'S LIFE
She also wrote a novella Die Fatale Nacht (That Fatal Night) about the 1953 flood in Holland, which came out there in translation, and which has yet to be published in English.

Johanna is presently working on connected short stories about her sisters and herself.
JOHANNA AND HER SISTERS
She has been a board member of P.E.N., a writing tutor for Fortune Society, has given workshops for children and adults, and travels throughout the US and sometimes beyond, visiting schools and organizations to discuss the Holocaust and read from her books.
